New set-up station in Murcia, Spain
Frutipack and Smart Packaging Solutions are joining forces with a new set-up station for the Murcia region. The set-up machine will be used for solid board trays intended for broccoli and herbs cultivated outdoors, and will be expanded at a later stage.
The demand for machine-erected trays for open field cultivation is growing steadily. The trays are available in various designs and can be custom printed. Both trays have a double-sided PE coating. The tray for herbs has been developed as a sustainable alternative to the widely used expanded polystyrene (EPS) packaging.
Since Smart Packaging Solutions will deliver the trays flat, the number of trips to Spain will be dramatically reduced. The trays will be assembled on site at Frutipack, which offers significant savings for logistics and a lower ecological footprint.
Machine-erected trays provide optimal protection for fruit and vegetables. They are robust, easy to stack, and can withstand products that release moisture. These solid board transport trays remain rigid, even in humid conditions. They are ideal for packaging delicate and/or moist products.
