From waste paper to premium packaging: Smart Packaging Solutions joins the FNOI
How can we raise the quality of our packaging even more? At Smart Packaging Solutions we’re always working on ways to improve our packaging. So the quality of the waste paper we use to manufacture new solid board packaging is of crucial importance. The Federatie Nederlandse Oudpapier Industrie (FNOI) is dedicated to the optimal use of waste paper and cardboard. This aligns perfectly with our ambition, which is why we joined the FNOI.
Quality waste paper: crucial for our packaging
“We make most of our solid board packaging from waste paper,” says Kees Emons, plant manager of Smart Packaging Solutions in Loenen. “If possible, we use waste paper from the region, sourced from local collectors, and production waste from nearby printing companies. This requires less transportation, reduces CO2 emissions, and contributes to a sustainable end product. Because waste paper can’t be manufactured, we’re entirely dependent on the quality of the material supplied which is something we have no control over as an individual company.”
FNOI supports the industry in achieving these goals, champions the sector’s interests, maintains contacts with foreign industry bodies and ensures the consistent high quality of paper flows. “Through joining the FNOI, we can discuss trends and combine forces to create a strong, sustainable paper chain,” says Kees Emons. “As part of the industry body, we can make our voice heard far more effectively.”
From fibre to packaging
Joining FNOI fits perfectly with Smart Packaging Solutions’ mission: creating value from fibre to packaging, making optimal use of waste paper and cardboard, and boosting the circular economy. By becoming a member of the federation, we can work with other members to strengthen the position of our industry, share knowledge and spread the circular message more effectively.
